Once upon a time, the Zen Master had a visitor. The professor had spent many years reading and teaching philosophy. He was very excited to finally meet the Master and couldn’t stop talking about Zen. The Master poured his visitor some tea, but the professor kept talking. The cup was now full but the Zen Master kept pouring. Unable to resist, the professor exclaimed, “The cup is already full! It can’t hold more.” The Zen Master sighed and said, “The cup is you.”
Don’t be like the professor. The year has just begun. Be attentive. Be receptive. Open your mind before your mouth.
